Ah, I love that feeling when you wake up to sunshine, don't you? Spring is officially here, and I can't get enough of it!
Today seemed like a perfect day for an early morning run. Lately my workouts have been focused on speed in short distances, primly the 800m dash, because my track team's 4x800m team will be competing in Missouri in about a week and a half. We have a shot at breaking the record, so I am working on that particular distance, hoping for a PR.
But today was too beautiful to worry about a stopwatch. I enjoyed running a breezy three miles at a leisurely 9:00-mile pace with my best running buddy, Emma. At that pace, we can talk without gasping for breath :) Although when we hit the hills halfway through the route, I am gasping no matter what pace I'm running!
It always feels so good to run in the morning. Even though I still have a dance-workout session and some 800m-training heats ahead of me, I've at least finished the run that I sometimes dread all day. Sure, it's hard to roll out of bed and get right into my running shoes, but it leaves the rest of the day a little freer!
It's also so rewarding to get home and fill up my tummy with a Yoplait Greek yogurt. This morning I went with my favorite flavor, Cherrry. Mmmm, so creamy. And for only 80 calories! This is always my go-to breakfast.
Although the yogurt is very tasty on its own, I like to add a little extra crunch and flavor. Dried strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are just the thing! I buy them in bulk (like 20 bags at a time) at Trader Joe's so that I never run out. (You should see the look the cashier always gives me!!)
Well, I'm off to class now. Although my physical therapy final is coming up next week, my main focus of studying right now is cramming in math! This Saturday will be my third year competing at the ICTM State Math Contest in Champaign, IL, and I want to be as prepared as possible!
